In a bid to ensure that applicants are well protected against the covid 19, in the acquisition of their international passports, the ikoyi passport office of the Nigeria Immigration service NIS has acquired two censored hand washing machines
Passport control officer of Ikoyi passport Mannir Yari say the machines will go a long way in minimizing contacts of persons as the machines are censored and applicants will just have to wash or sanitize their hands with ease.
Yari disclosed that the provision of this machines is one of the strategies put in place to curb the spread of coronavirus in passport acquisition.
He noted that the other strategies include the social distancing Mark’s on the floor upon entry into the passport office,, provision of thermal scanners whereby temperature of applicants will be taken before entering the passport office and spacing on the seats for social distance in the waiting or collection lounge.
He explained that for a waiting lounge that normally takes about 200 persons, with this new normal brought about by covid 19, it can only take about 80 persons adding that applicants are invited via text messages to the passport office.
He said the passport office is working with the directive of the comptroller general of the NIS Mohammed Babandede and the guidelines and protocols of covid 19.
Assistant comptroller general ACG in charge of zone A, Mohammed Alfa stressed that the world is fighting a war with an unseen enemy which is coronavirus and there is strong need to put everything in place to fight it.
He noted that the measures being put in place and the machines will help in curbing the spread of the dreaded covid 19
