Airpeace to recall some sacked pilots as Sirika intervenes

Following the intervention of the minister of aviation Hadi Sirika on the recent sack of some pilots by the management of Airpeace airline, respite May soon come as some of the sacked pilots maybe recalled.
This was part of the decision reached after a meeting in Abuja this tuesday between the management of the airline, minister and the leadership of the National Association of AirCraft Pilots and Engineers NAAPE.
According to a release by the director of Public Affairs Ministry of Aviation James Odaudu the agreement was a verbal one after a dialogue with the chairman of Airpeace airline Allen Onyema who acceded to the minister’s appeal for the recall of the maximum number of pilots the airline can accommodate without going under.
National President of NAAPE Abedingo Galadima appealed to the minister to intervene in other to resolve the impasse while admitted that some missteps could have been made in the course of the standoff between the airline and the union .
Galadima said as a union it was painful to see large number of their members thrown into the Labour market and further appealed to employers of labour to see the union members as partners and not adversaries.
Chairman of Airpeace Allen Onyema expressed sadness and disappointment over what he called ingratitude of some of the pilots after everything he has done to make them comfortable on their jobs adding that the airline had trained over 80 pilots and an equal number of AirCraft engineers only for them to disappoint him.
He commended the minister for providing the required leadership to the industry and promised his full cooperation in ensuring the growth of the aviation sector in Nigeria.
Minister of aviation Hadi Sirika called for the understanding of everyone especially labour unions of the prevailing situation in the aviation industry as it is not time for unnecessary upheavals.
He commended Onyema for his contributions in developing the industry and appealed to him to recall the maximum number of the sacked pilots that the airline can comfortably accommodate in the prevailing circumstance to which he agreed .
He called all stakeholders to put all hands on deck on ensuring a rapid recovery from the effects of covid 19 pandemic
