The newly appointed Lagos state comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration service Dahiru Mani Bagiwa says he will consolidate on the achievement of his predecessor in ensuring effective service delivery in Lagos NIS.
Bagiwa who disclosed this in Lagos, shortly after a brief handover ceremony at the Alagbon office of the state command of the NIS noted that his predecessor has done some much to make his work easy in the state.
Bagiwa stated that he expects full cooperation from officers and men of the command to make his work easy in line with the vision and mission of the service
“I expect maximum cooperation just like the way they gave my former Lagos comptroller Bauchi Aliyu. So as i said in my initial speech that I am here to improve and make things easy for my officers and men. And for the foreigners which Immigration happens to be their host, we are not here to make things difficult for anybody”
On his part former comptroller of Lagos NIS Bauchi Aliyu who was full of emotion noted that he had enjoyed a wonderful working relationship with the officers and men of the command and urged them to accord the same to his successor.
“It is normal, institution we build, will out live all of us, we come, we do our best to add value and then move forward. Another one will come, do his own and move forward, that is how it will continue in generations, so it is not about us, it is about the institution, that has been my admonition any where I go, any time I have reasons to speak about institutional development ”
“We are all aware Immigration is not what it used to be, it has taken a lead, positive lead in the right direction, so this lead, this reforms that seek to take Immigration to the next level is ongoing and you are the drivers and he is going to sit in the driver’s seat to drive you. The cooperation you have given me, without any fear of contradiction please give him”
The handing over ceremony was witnessed by top management of the state command.
Comptroller Bauchi Aliyu had served as the comptroller Lagos state command NIS for over a year until his recent appointment as principal staff officer to the comptroller general headquarters following the recent redevelopment and shake up in the NIS.
Bagiwa is the immediate past Comptroller of Kaduna state command and is returning to Lagos after having previously served at the command and Murtala Muhammed international airport Lagos
