Worried by the increasing rates of touting, extortion,
and illicit activities at the Nation’s Airports, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN has set up a taskforce to address the issues.
Managing director FAAN Olubumi kuku, who disclosed this in lagos expressed her deep concern over the ongoing harassment and extortion of passengers at the airports and stressed that she is committed to creating a seamless and pleasant travel experience for air passengers thereby setting up the taskforce
She further stated that the taskforce will be chaired by the Director of special duties FAAN, Henry Agbebire adding that she intends to engage all government agencies operating at the airports to ensure compliance with the anti touting and anti extortion measures
Kuku warned all airport personnel as well as FAAN staff not to indulge in extortion or other illicit activities as it is not going to be business as usual, as there is zero tolerance policy by this administration towards misconduct
The FAAN chief executive also announced plans to establish magistrate courts at international Airports to expedite the legal process for prosecuting offenders as the taskforce has been mandated to enforce discipline among airport staff ànd maintain professionalism at all levels
She noted that all airport personnel must display yheir on duty cards and name tags for easy identification as dedicated phone lines will be set up to provide passengers means of providing feedback back on their airport experience
