The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau NSIB says it has commenced Investigation into the petrol tanker explosion that occurred in Majia Town, Taura local government area of Jigawa state.
The NSIB says the investigation is in line with the mandate it has to investigate accident across all transportation sectorThe Bureau said it has deployed a team of experts to investigate the accident, as the team will access the circumstances surrounding the crash and explosion with a view to identifying causes of the inferno
and provide Safety recommendations aimed at preventing future occurance.
The tanker explosion was said to have occurred at about 11pm on Tuesday when a petrol tanker enroute from Kano to Nguru in Yobe state, lost control and crashed, spilling its contents which resulted in massive inferno claiming 150 lives and several others were injured
