The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development,Festus Keyamo has inaugurated the Enugu State owned commercial airline ‘Enugu Air’

Keyamo while speaking at the inauguration ceremony, which took place, on Monday at the Akanu Ibiam Airport in Enugu, said the entrance of the new airline marks a bold leap toward regional economic integration and the deepening of Nigeria’s domestic air travel infrastructure.

The airline is expected to operate with three Embraer airplanes for a start and its a baby of the Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah.

Enugu Air will be operated by Xejet, a fast-growing airline in a partnership that is described to ensure top-tier safety, premium service delivery, and operational reliability from inception.

The Aviation Minister at the occasion added that Governor Mbah has demonstrated what is possible when states take the initiative to invest in critical infrastructure that unlocks economic opportunities and positions Nigeria as a cohesive aviation hub.”

Governor Peter Mbah, in his welcome address, expressed gratitude to the Honourable Minister and his team for their support and described the airline’s debut as a major stride in Enugu’s economic development plan.

“Enugu Air is more than just a carrier; it is a symbol of our resolve to connect Enugu to the world and invite the world to Enugu,” Governor Mbah said. “With the invaluable support of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and its agencies, we are proud to roll out a project that will catalyze tourism, commerce, and industrial growth across the South East and beyond.”

The Aviation Minister attended the Ceremony in Enugu with a high-powered delegation comprising the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo; the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku; the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr. Farouk Umar; and senior directors from various aviation agencies.
