United Nigeria Airlines has announced the commencement of its much-anticipated direct flights to Accra, Ghana, marking a significant milestone in the carrier’s expansion beyond Nigeria’s borders.
The inaugural service is set to begin on 10 November 2025, connecting Lagos and Abuja directly to Kotoka International Airport, Accra.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the airline described the launch as the beginning of its regional operations, underscoring its ambition to strengthen air connectivity across West Africa.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, the Chief Operating Officer of United Nigeria Airlines, Mazi Osita Okonkwo, said the development represents a defining moment in the airline’s growth journey.
“Ghana is an important part of our regional growth plan. This marks our first operation outside Nigeria, and we are truly excited about it,” Okonkwo said. “Over the past four years, United Nigeria Airlines has built a strong reputation for safety, regulatory compliance, exceptional customer service, and on-time performance — values we are committed to extending across all regional and international routes.”
Okonkwo noted that the new service not only enhances the airline’s network but also contributes to economic and cultural integration between Nigeria and Ghana.
“With United Nigeria Airlines now operating on the Accra route, we are expanding travel options for the flying public – including business and leisure travellers – while proudly flying the Nigerian flag and strengthening connectivity between Nigeria and Ghana,” he added.
He reaffirmed the airline’s mission of “Uniting people, cultures, and dreams while bridging the gap in connectivity through efficient flight operations.”
Tickets for the Lagos–Accra–Lagos and Abuja–Accra–Abuja routes are now available for booking via the airline’s website and accredited agents.
United Nigeria Airlines also revealed plans to deepen its domestic presence with the addition of new routes such as Abuja–Sokoto and Ilorin, among others, scheduled to commence in November.
Since its entry into the Nigerian aviation market in 2021, United Nigeria Airlines has consistently expanded its footprint, offering reliable services across key domestic destinations.
The new Ghana route represents the first step in its broader ambition to become a dominant player in regional aviation within West Africa.
