The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, has been celebrated for his exemplary leadership and transformative impact on Nigeria’s aviation industry, receiving two prestigious awards from the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT).

The awards – Leadership Award in Transport and Logistics Governance and Distinguished Trailblazer’s Award in Transport and Logistics – were conferred on him during the Nigeria Transport and Logistics Leadership Summit held on Monday, 14 October 2025, in Abuja.

Capt. Najomo was recognised for his remarkable contributions to policy formulation, institutional strengthening, and the overall advancement of Nigeria’s transport and logistics sector.

The honours, according to the organisers, underscore his steadfast commitment to fostering efficiency, safety, and innovation within the country’s aviation landscape.

Representing the DGCA at the ceremony, Dr (Mrs) Anastasia Gbem, Director of Human Resources and Administration at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), received the awards on his behalf.

She conveyed Capt. Najomo’s gratitude to the NITT and the summit organisers for acknowledging his dedication to good governance and sustainable development in the transport industry.

In his goodwill message delivered at the event themed “Building Sustainable Transport and Logistics Infrastructure in Nigeria: Current Trends and Future Insights,” Capt. Najomo emphasised that aviation plays a pivotal role in Nigeria’s economic transformation.

He noted that the sector not only connects Nigeria to the global community but also facilitates trade, promotes tourism, supports job creation, and strengthens cultural and business exchanges.

He reaffirmed the NCAA’s commitment to ensuring regulatory excellence and aligning Nigeria’s aviation operations with international standards, while continuing to create an enabling environment for growth, innovation, and investment in the sector.

Stakeholders, policymakers, and industry experts present at the summit praised Capt. Najomo’s visionary leadership, describing him as a driving force behind the continued stability and progress in Nigeria’s civil aviation system.

Many noted that his recognition by the NITT was a testament to his dedication to transparency, accountability, and performance-driven management.

The Nigeria Transport and Logistics Leadership Summit brought together leaders and professionals across all transport sub-sectors to deliberate on emerging trends, infrastructure development, and sustainable logistics solutions aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s transport system for future growth.
