Overland Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Landover Company Limited, Capt. Edward Boyo, has been awarded an Honourary Doctorate Degree by Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, in recognition of his significant contributions to Nigeria’s aviation sector and his exemplary leadership over the years.

The prestigious degree, Honoris Causa (Doctor of Business Administration), was conferred on him during the University’s 20th Convocation Ceremony, held at the institution’s main auditorium in Iwo on 1 November 2025.

Capt. Boyo was honoured as a distinguished professional whose work in the aviation industry has consistently inspired innovation, excellence, and progress.

The conferment ceremony was witnessed by senior government officials, traditional rulers, academics, aviation stakeholders, and members of the business community. Among the dignitaries in attendance was the Oluwo of Iwo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi.

Executives and staff of Landover Company and Overland Airways were also present, alongside members of Capt. Boyo’s family and close associates.

In his remarks after receiving the award, Capt. Boyo expressed deep appreciation to Bowen University, describing the recognition as a powerful motivation to do more for the advancement of aviation in Nigeria.

“I am deeply delighted to receive this recognition and wish to extend my gratitude to the leadership of Bowen University for this honour,” he said. “This honour will spur me further to continue making my contributions to Nigeria’s air transport industry in particular and the economy in general. I assure the Bowen University community that I will be a worthy ambassador of this great institution and continue on the path of excellence, investing in our people and systems to ensure a better aviation sector in Nigeria.”

The Executive Director of Landover Company and Overland Airways Limited, Mrs. Aduke Atiba, congratulated Capt. Boyo and described the honour as a testament to his transformative impact on the sector.

“The Management and staff of Landover Company and Overland Airways Limited extend our warmest congratulations to Capt. Boyo on this well-deserved honour, celebrating his remarkable achievement and unwavering dedication to the industry,” she said. “This recognition reinforces our belief in the excellence culture we strive for daily. His leadership has been nothing but transformational and we are proud of this achievement.”

As part of his goodwill at the convocation, Capt. Boyo presented a cash gift and a scholarship for postgraduate studies to Miss Lotechukwu Ikpo, an Economics graduate who finished as the overall best graduating student with a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.00. The gesture further highlighted his interest in youth development and academic growth.

Capt. Boyo is widely recognised as a strong advocate for structured aviation development on the African continent.

He serves as the Ambassador for West Africa for the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), an African Union initiative championing open skies, enhanced connectivity and aviation liberalisation in Africa.

Overland Airways, an International Air Transport Association (IATA) member airline, has become one of the leading players in the Nigerian domestic aviation market under his leadership, with a strong footprint in scheduled and charter services.

Capt. Boyo also established Landover Company Limited more than three decades ago, and it has grown into one of the continent’s foremost aviation solutions companies, headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria.

He is regarded as a pilot-entrepreneur whose work is dedicated to strengthening regional economies and enabling safe, reliable and accessible air transport in Nigeria and West Africa.
