The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN, in partnership with MTN Nigeria, has launched free Wi-Fi service at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja
Managing Director/ Chief Executive FAAN Olubunmi Kuku, while speaking during the launch of the free WiFi service at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal Two lagos said that its not just simply launching a Wi-Fi service, but setting a new benchmark for Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and Airport experience.
Kuku who was represented at the event by Director of Airport Operations FAAN, Abdullahi Mahmoud said the launch has become necessary as passengers have experienced the frustration of being disconnected when connection mattered most.
“Today we change that story, we transform waiting time into working time. We replace frustration with functionality. We feel every passenger who walks through our doors, your time, your dreams, your connections, they all matter to us. This is the value of the free WiFi.
She disclosed that “The partnership with MTN is a major step forward in our efforts to modernise infrastructure and improve the digital economy. In today’s connected world, access to reliable Internet is no longer a luxury but a necessity. We are pleased to offer this value added service to our passengers, marking their travel experience easier and more productive”
Kuku noted that the ” The partnership represents something far larger than convenience, it is a testament to what we can achieve when the public and private sector align their capabilities with a shared national purpose.”
She stressed that “This free WiFi service supports His Excellency president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s digital economy agenda. It advances the transformative vision of the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo “.
Chief Enterprise Business Officer MTN, Lynda Saint-Nwafor in her remarks stated that the launch highlights the strength of public private partnership as MTN’s deepen collaboration with the FAAN to enhance the experiences of travellers coming into or leaving our great nation.
She stressed that “‘Connectivity is no longer a luxury. At MTN, we believe that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern, connected life. Whether you are conducting business, accessing vital information, staying in touch with loved ones, or passing time productively, reliable Connectivity has become an enabler of modern living. Saint-Nwafor noted the launch of free WiFi service across major airports in Nigeria, delivered in partnership with FAAN.
She stated that “This initiative reflects a shared commitment to improving passenger experience, enhancing accessibility, and demonstrating what “Shared value ” means to us at MTN,”
The free WiFi service is expected to extend to other international airports, Port Harcourt, Kano, and Enugu soon.
