The operator of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, has attributed the Tuesday water leakage in its ticketing hall to heavy rainfall and unusual wind patterns.

This occurred when heavy rainfall combined with abnormal wind patterns directed water toward previously unaffected structural elements of the building.

Head, Corporate Communications, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, who disclosed this, said the incident created pressure conditions that forced rainwater through weatherproofing systems that have performed adequately in all previous weather events.

She noted that the terminal maintenance department responded immediately, and water removal operations have since been completed.

Yinka-Olawuyi, however said the terminal remains open and operational, with the affected area fully restored adding that a comprehensive facility assessment is already underway to prevent similar incidents duringg future extreme weather events
