Aviation journalists are mourning the death of one of their colleague, a renowned journalist and Veteran in Aviation Reporting Mrs Shola Adekola.

Madam Sholly as she was popularly known, died on Tuesday, 4th March, 2025 at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital LASUTH Ikeja after a brief illness at the age of 61.

The Late Adekola was born to the late Prof Morakinyo Omole and Mrs Fumilayo Omole and grew up inside the University of Ibadan Community.

She graduated from the University of Ibadan in I988 with BA in Classical studies.

Adekola had worked with Kano State Government owned Newspaper, the Triumph and different
newspapers,which include Hallmark, Daily Times, Reuters and Nigerian Tribune, where she rose through the ranks of Proof Reader, Sub-Editor, Correspondent and until her death Assistant Editor/ Aviation Editor .

She joined the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) in 1993 having been posted to the beat by Triumph Newspaper in 1993. In LAAC she served in different positions, including Assistant Secretary and Vice Chairman.

Adekola publishes her popular column CRUCIAL MOMENT” which was on the business page of Tribute every Thursday.

She is an alumni of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology(NCAT) Zaria where she underwent different professional courses ranging from aviation reporting for image makers, advance training in aviation for image markers and management course for image markers between 1993 and 2023.

She has also gathered international experiences as she had travelled across Europe, America, Middle East and Africa for conferences on aviation and tourism related issues.
