The Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Chris Najomo, is insisting that Air Peace did not leave any of its passengers stranded on the London route.

Najomo, made the clarification while addressing journalists in Lagos, reacting to a viral video alleging that the airline passengers were stranded.

He stressed that flight delays and cancellations happen everywhere in the world and that no airline would want to leave its passengers stranded.

Najomo added “What happened with AirPeace in London that went viral is not very good, we should support our own.”

The DGCA disclosed that major airlines in the world are being faced with issues of flight delays and cancellations, adding that recently, “What happened to Delta airline and nobody is talking about it,” while wondering why AirPeace is becoming an issue.

Najomo also disclosed that the AirPeace plane landed safely, as his wife was on that flight, and every passenger carefully disembarkef. He said it was during the Ramp check that the airlinr discovered that the plane picked up a bird.

He noted that, “AirPeace did the right thing by not operating that flight, and they called Boeing, and they told them they cannot operate the flight.”

“I mean, what do you expect them to do?. Am not here supporting AirPeace because I went through it, I investigated it, he took his passengers, he just told them please let us wait for the aircraft coming in from Abuja to now take the people back, the hotel he put the passengers are in the airport there”
“So I don’t understand the viral video, we should support our own.”

Najomo stated that AirPeace acted in line with international best practice, as the airline did not do anything wrong, adding that delays and cancellations are not peculiar to Nigeria.
