President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has honoured the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, with the prestigious Excellence in Aviation Sector Reforms Award, acknowledging his trailblazing leadership and unwavering dedication to transforming Nigeria’s aviation industry.

The accolade was presented during the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

NEAPS, a flagship initiative of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), recognises exceptional innovation, transparency, and service delivery across the nation’s public institutions.

Presenting the award on behalf of the President, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, applauded Keyamo for championing reforms that have improved operational safety, reinforced consumer rights, expanded aviation infrastructure, and revitalised investor confidence in the sector.

He noted that the Minister’s approach had set a new benchmark for sectoral governance and positioned Nigeria more competitively on the global aviation map.

Senator Akume added that Keyamo’s achievements reflect the administration’s broader vision of strengthening key national institutions through accountability and purposeful leadership.

The ceremony also celebrated several distinguished public service leaders recognised for excellence in their respective roles.

Among them were Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, honoured for Excellence in Public Communication and Transparency; Ola Olukoyede, Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), recognised for Excellence in Integrity and Anti-Corruption Leadership; and Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), Chairman of the NDLEA, celebrated for Excellence in Drug Control Leadership and Public Safety Reform.

Also honoured was Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, who received the Excellence in Revenue and Customs Administration Award, alongside other eminent personalities acknowledged for their impactful contributions to public service.

The 2025 NEAPS event was attended by top government officials, captains of industry, members of the diplomatic community, and key stakeholders across various sectors, reflecting the high esteem in which the awards are held.

In a statement, Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, described the recognition as a testament to the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s aviation sector.

He affirmed that the award further motivates the Ministry’s commitment to delivering world-class aviation services and infrastructure nationwide.
