Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has reaffirmed the Federal Government commitment to modernising Aviation infrastructure across airports in the country.
Keyamo made this known today in Lagos when he embarked on inspection tour of the newly upgraded Hajj Terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos,led by the Chairman of the board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN, Abdullahi Ganduje as well as the Managing director of FAAN Olubunmi Kuku .
The tour is to have a first hand assessment of the remodelled facility which is designed to improve the processing of pilgrims and enhance operational efficiency ahead of future Hajj operations.
Keyamo stated that the visit is also to highlight the Federal Government’s broader drive to revitalise Aviation infrastructure across the country.
He stressed that the rehabilitation of the Hajj terminal is part of a comprehensive modernisation programme which includes the rebuilding of the Lagos Airport, and the resurfacing of the Kano Airport Runway.
Keyamo further stressed that the projects reflect President Bola Tinubu’s directive to prioritise world class Aviation infrastructure as a key driver of safety, efficiency and Economic growth.
While also speaking MD of FAAN, Olubunmi Kuku said the upgraded terminal building represents more than a facility face-lift, as the terminal has been designed to process about 10,000 passengers, while providing a more comfortable seamless and pleasant travel experience for pilgrims and other users.
Chairman of the board of FAAN Abdullahi Ganduje in his remarks commended the minister and FAAN management for delivering an improved Hajj Terminal for pilgrims.
Ganduje also expressed satisfaction with the implementation of government’s aviation infrastructure agenda, adding that the visit affairms the improvement in the terminal following the upgrade.
