The Nigeria Immigration Service NIS. Says four of its personnel have lost their lives and several others injured in a road accident which occurred a few kilometres from Kano on Sunday.

The NIS in a release by the service public relations officer Dotun Aridegbe, say the officials were returning to Abuja from Kano.

He stated that “Tragically, they were involved in a ghastly accident a few kilometres from Kano. As a result, four of our personnel lost their lives, This has been a deeply distressing and sorrowful moment for us within the Nigeria Immigration Service ”

He noted that seven of their colleagues who sustained various degrees of injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Aminu Kano teaching hospital in Kano adding that the prayers and thoughts of the service are with them for quick recovery.

Acting Comptroller General NIS Wuraola Adepoju who had earlier personally extended her condolences to the bereaved families is deeply grieved by the loss

Adepoju called for immediate investigation into the accident to ascertain the remote cause.

The Acting CGI has also directed all commands and formation heads to fly their flag at half mass for the next seven days, and then observe a three day mourning period in honour and memory of the fallen personnel
