The Flight Dispatcher Association of Nigeria FLIDAN, has charged the Nigeria civil aviation authority NCAA to beam its search light on the operations control of United Nigeria Airlines.
FLIDAN in a statement by its General Secretary Victoria Adegbe urge the NCAA to thoroughly look into the Airlines operational control, as there are indicators of them undermining the authority of flight Dispatchers.
FLIDAN stressed that the flight Dispatcher adhered to NCA Regulations Part 8-operations, by submitting a detailed flight plan to the Aeronautical information Service AIS stating departure from lagos to Abuja and alternate routes.
The statement further stated that the weather report given indicated that Abuja was cleared tor weather after the Pilot called the Air Traffic Controllers ATC for clearance to depart for Asaba against the initial flight plan submitted by the flight Dispatcher.
The flight diversion to Asaba according to FLIDAN is a breach of Flight Dispatchers operational control which violets safety protocol as stipulated in the NCA Regulations.
It noted that the airline’s practice of allowing pilots to generate their flight plan is a violation of Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations which should be critically looked into, as it amounts to failure to carry essential documents including the Dispatcher’s flight plan and load manifest as stipulated in NCA Regulations
- Controversy have continued following the diversion of a flight operated by United Nigeria Airline originally scheduled for Abuja airport, which landed in Asaba instead on Sunday 26th November 2023
