The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has been named the Minister of the Year 2024 by the Board and Management of Daily Independent, one of Nigeria’s leading newspapers.
Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the minister, Tunde Moshood, who disclosed this, said the award was the fourth for Keyamo within one month.
He stated that the award highlighted the minister’s relentless dedication to transforming the aviation industry landscape and his unyielding commitment to progress.
Moshood said, it’s also underscored the immense recognition and admiration Keyamo has garnered from all quarters, including from some of the nation’s most stringent opinion leaders and society critics.
Also, the Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (Nimet), Professor Charles Anosike, received an award as the Aviation Agency CEO of the Year 2024, Moshood maintained that the dual recognition underscored the cohesive, forward-thinking leadership that the minister and his team were bringing to the aviation and aerospace sector.
In his citation read by the organisers, Anosike was honoured for his proactive efforts within a short time in transforming NiMet.
Anosike, however, dedicated the award to the hardworking staff and management of NiMet, and thanked Keyamo for his supportive leadership.
Also, a statement by Nimet, lauded the management of Daily Independent Newspapers for recognizing the giant strand of Anosike since his assumption at the agency.
Anosike collected the award on behalf of Keyamo, while Director-General of the National Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) Captain Alex Badeh Jr and Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Dr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, represented by Director of Air Traffic Services, John Tayo were also in attendance.
The awards ceremony, held at Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday was a star-studded affair, attended by captains of industry, prominent personalities and respected figures from various sectors of the economy.
