The Murtala Mohammed international airport lagos command of the National drug Law enforcement agency NDLEA, says six sniffer dogs would be deployed to comb the terminal building for hidden drugs within and around the airport.
Lagos airport commander of the NDLEA, Ahamadu Garba who made this known stated that the dogs would be deployed for the exercise and replaced with another set after some minutes for effective coverage.
Garba stated that they have enough dogs for the agency at a particular time, as they may be deploying 5 or 6, as well as alternating the dogs at a certain period of time. He noted that the handlers are experts when they bring them out for certain number of minutes, then take them back and replace them.
He said ” The combing which would last for one week, will start with the baggage area, some nooks and crannies around departure hall upstairs, walk ways downstairs around the arrival, all hidden areas.
He maintained that the command was fully ready for international flight resumption as officers of the command have been undergoing comprehensive training in line with covid 19 protocols and procedures.
