South East governors and leaders have commended the federal government on the reopening of the Akanu Ibiam international airport Enugu.
Enugu state governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the reopening of the Enugu airport this Sunday on behalf of the people of Enugu Express profound gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his unparalle support and commitment to the completion of the project, adding that it is a clear indication and testimony of Buhari’s determination to rebuild the nation through the provision of physical infrastructure to stimulate economic growth of the nation.
Ugwuanyi while also thanking the president for the money approved for the rehabilitation of the Enugu airport Runway said “Enugu state government in a bid to ensure a levelling environment to help the project, completely removed all obstacles and projects including the Emene Market which attracted birds and was a safety concern”
Former deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu while appreciating the efforts of the federal government, called for approval for more international flights.
He said” We want immediate commercial flights to start coming to Enugu. We also seek the approval of more international flights into Enugu airport
The opening ceremony of the Akanu Ibiam international airport Enugu Runway had in attendance governors from the south East, ministers, members of the national assembly as well as stakeholders in the aviation industry
