Air Peace airline has queried the parameters used by the Federal competition and consumer protection commission FCCPC to determine that the Airline is charging exploitative fares.

Chief Operating Officer COO of Air Peace, Toyin Olajide who expressed the airline’s dissatisfaction over the way and manner the FCCPC is handling the inquiry into the exploitative fares says its disheartening for the airline.

Olajide disclosed that the Airline had recieved a letter of inquiry from the FCCPC about exploitative fares without even consulting with the aviation regulatory body Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority NCAA and that the Chairman of the Airline
Allen Onyema had to honour the request by going to the FCCPC office.
She said” We are fully aware of the inquiry by the FCCPC about exploitative fares that has been out there, we got this letter, unfortunately a day after we got the letter, it was out there in the press that FCCPC was investigating Air Peace even after the letter that was sent to us said an inquiry and we were called to come to Abuja. We honoured the request, in fact I must tell you, I wasn’t the one that went, the Chairman himself went to Abuja to honour this request, to listen to what they have to say about this inquiry. ”

Olajide lamented that the aviation industry is highly regulated industry and as such certain things should not be taken for granted

She stressed that the action by FCCPC has brought about bad image for the airline adding that “One of the countries that we are applying to for slot, I will not mention names, a key country, that we are applying to give us slot so that we can start our summer operations. They wrote us, they put it down in writing to tell us that Air Peace, I don’t have a slot for you because you are not our priority ”

She noted that this is really disheartening because the federal government supports indigenous investments and they are not against indigenous investments
