The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has concluded plans to begin investigations into the alleged involvement of one its personnel identified as ” Aliu “, for criminal activity in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The NIS in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi , said disciplinary action will be meted out if the officer identified in the viral video was involved in the alleged offence.

The statement reads :” The attention of the Nigeria Immigration Service has been drawn to a video circulating on social media, allegedly depicting an individual identified as ” Aliu” in police custody , personnel of the service.

“The video purports that the individual is involved in criminal activities , which the NIS unequivocally condemns.The Service distances itself from the suspect , and reiterates it’s zero tolerance stance on criminal tendencies amongst its officers irrespective of ranks.
” Pending the outcome of police investigation into the alleged crimes,

The Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap , has constituted an independent panel to investigate the allegations and determine the extent of the suspect’s involvement.

“The NIS assures the public of its unwavering commitment to upholding it’s statutory responsibilities and maintaining national security. Should the allegations be confirmed , necessary disciplinary actions will be taken .

” The service remains dedicated to serving the nation with integrity and professionalism.”
