The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service NIS, Kemi Nandap has ordered the suspension of the Service Comptrollers along the Lagos-Seme Border over alleged misconduct which bothers on extortion by its personnel along that corridor.
NIS spokesperson Akinsola Akinlabi in a release say the Comptroller-General is worried by recent online reports on the allegations, which she condemns, as such conduct is unacceptable and stands in direct violation of the core values, ethics, and operational standards of the service.
Akinlabi further disclosed that “Consequently, the CGI has temporarily relieved the Comptrollers in charge of the affected Commands of their duties and has directed a thorough investigation surrounding these incidents, in order to identify all officers involved, and ensure that appropriate disciplinary measures are applied with immediate effect.”
“The Service wishes to reassure the general public, that it remains committed to delivering professional, transparent and efficient services at all points of entry and exit.”
The NIS maintained that it will not condone any act that undermines public trust or tarnishes the integrity of the Service.
