The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, has once again affirmed its global standing in aviation training excellence, clinching the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) prestigious Platinum Level Status for the sixth consecutive year.

The award was formally presented to NCAT’s Rector and Chief Executive, Dr Danjuma Ismaila, during the ongoing ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS) in Morocco. The recognition underscores NCAT’s sustained commitment to delivering high-quality aviation capacity development in line with international standards.

The GISS, widely regarded as a flagship event of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), serves as a critical platform for advancing global aviation objectives. It brings together regulators, industry stakeholders, and service providers from across member states to strengthen the implementation of aviation policies, standards, and recommended practices.

At the heart of the symposium is a shared commitment to enhancing capacity building within the aviation sector. Through technical cooperation and knowledge exchange, participating countries are supported in bridging operational and regulatory gaps, particularly in key areas such as aviation safety, security, sustainability, and air navigation services.

The ICAO Platinum Status is awarded to institutions that demonstrate exceptional performance in aviation training and capacity development.

NCAT’s consistent attainment of this top-tier recognition highlights its role as a leading training institution not only in Nigeria but across Africa and the global aviation community.

Industry observers note that NCAT’s continued success reflects Nigeria’s growing influence in aviation training and human capital development.

By maintaining high training standards and aligning with ICAO’s global benchmarks, the institution has remained at the forefront of efforts to ensure that aviation professionals are equipped to meet evolving industry demands.

The latest recognition further consolidates NCAT’s reputation as a centre of excellence, reinforcing its contribution to strengthening global aviation systems and supporting member states in meeting and sustaining international requirements.
